Shaver's Sash and Door Ltd. has been operating in Regina since H. A. Shaver opened the doors in 1914.
The Shaver family has been involved in the millwork industry ever since.
Roy Shaver remembers working in the shop, which was then on the 1200 block of Cornwall Street, with his
grandfather. H. A. Shaver was mainly a self-taught man who did it all from building houses around Regina
in the 1920's, manufacturing windows and doors to turning pulleys for grain elevators on the prairies. Roy
learned his trade from his grandfather while he was still in school. He would bike to the shop after class
and work weekends. Roy worked and learned from his grandfather for six years until H. A. passed away in
1953 at the age of 75.
Roy and his wife Florence Shaver maintained the Cornwall Street location until 1964 when they moved the
company into a custom-built facility at 150 – 6th Avenue East in Regina. Their business continued to grow
by providing Regina and area with the highest quality of workmanship and materials in the industry.
In the 1970's, Shaver's Sash and Door took on a new look and feel with the fulltime addition of Roy and
Florence's son, Allen. Like his father before him, Allen learned the business by working after school and
on weekends. In 1977 Allen became a fulltime employee of Shaver's Sash and Door Ltd.; the third
generation of Shaver's involved in the millwork industry.
Over the next 23 years, the Shaver team would continue to grow, adding new and cutting edge products and
skilled and professional staff along with state of the art equipment.
In 1985, Allen's sister, Arlene, came on board to manage the office and provide customer service to our
growing business. In 1996, Gord Plessl joined our management team bringing with him years of
experience to assist the customer in the decision-making process, whether it is that one special door to
make that perfect entry, or a complete house or commercial package. From the perfect door, window,
moulding or hardware to finishing and shipping the product across the country, together they provide the
highest quality of service we demand for our clients.
The next significant change in growth came in 1998 when Shaver's Sash and Door Ltd. moved into their
new 15,000+ square foot manufacturing area at 230 – 4th Avenue East in Regina. All of this allows us to
provide top level service to those customers who demand extremely high quality in their renovation,
custom home package, restoration, or architectural building. The Shaver's management team, with their
combined 200 years of service, are here to help you, the customer.
